Welding Competition

2nd Annual NH Regional and State Welding Competitions

New Hampshire’s structural steel industry and the CCSNH are excited to invite you to the 2nd Annual NH Regional and State Welding Competitions. We are looking forward to working with partners across the state to build upon the success of the 2021 competition. The NH Regional Welding Competitions will be held on April 22, 2022.

  • The Seacoast Regional Welding Competition will be held at Novel Iron Works in partnership with Great Bay Community College in Greenland, NH
  • The North Country Regional Welding Competition will be held at White Mountains Community College in partnership with Capone Iron Works in Berlin, NH
  • The Western Regional Welding Competition will be held at SL Chasse Steel Fabrication in partnership with Manchester Community College in Hudson, NH

The winners of the regional competitions will advance to the State Welding Competition to be held May 12th, 2022 at Manchester Community College in Manchester, NH.

Trophies will be awarded at both the Regional and State level competitions. Scholarship support is available for students who participate in the competition and enroll in a CCSNH college welding program.

About the Competition
The competition will consist of both a written knowledge and a skills performance assessment. This will include a combination of the following welding and cutting processes – Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Oxy-Fuel Cutting. Contestants will complete a variety of steel and aluminum projects, in various positions using a range of filler metals.

Tooling/equipment and materials for the competition will be provided. We ask that participants provide their own PPE. We ask that instructors ensure students bring the following items; FR welding jacket, ANSI approved safety glasses (clear lenses with side shields), ANSI approved steel/safety toe leather work boots, welding hood with minimum shade 10, welding beanie, and leather gauntlet-style TIG welding gloves.

Participants will not be authorized to utilize any phones or electronic devices during the competition. We recommend that students do not bring these items to the event.

Registration is now OPEN. ALL CTE’s should submit a list of 4 students who will participate and if possible, include 2-3 additional names as alternates. Please submit this info no later than April 1st to Hollie Noveletsky at the email address below.

Please check back for updated information. We look forward to seeing everyone on competition day!

Thank you to all of our sponsors, current and past, who are committed to making the competition a success this year.
