In recognition of National Scholarship Month in November, The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges is highlighting how scholarships help students pay for college and keep working toward their degrees and certificates.
During the 2025–26 academic year, The Foundation awarded $1.1 million to more than 1,650 students. This fall, it has already awarded nearly 1,000 scholarships totaling $500,000.
“The Foundation’s support has been incredibly encouraging, and I’m grateful for the time its team took to see me as a student and future healthcare professional,” said Piper, a student at NHTI – Concord’s Community College, and recipient of the Marshall Snyder Memorial Scholarship. “This scholarship has already reduced some of the financial burden of purchasing books and program equipment, and it will be felt throughout my time at NHTI.”
The Foundation administers more than 120 scholarships established by generous donors. Current scholarships include the Closey & Whit Dickey Scholarship, which supports students from the Lebanon area, and the Joan Acorace Memorial Scholarship, which supports Manchester Community College students studying Early Childhood Education. The Marshall Snyder Memorial Scholarship honors a longtime NHTI science instructor by supporting students studying physical science.
“Scholarships help ease financial pressure so students can focus on their education,” said Lisa Clark of The Foundation. “They also remind students that donors believe in their goals and want to help them succeed.”
Applications for spring 2027 scholarships are now open. Students registered at any of New Hampshire’s seven community colleges can visit GiveNHCC.org/scholarships to learn more and complete the general application.
“The Foundation’s investment in my education means the world to me as a first-generation college student,” said Theresa, a student at MCC and a recipient of the Joan Acorace Memorial Scholarship. “The Foundation’s contribution will cover my tuition, fees, and books, as well as a laptop I’ll use for my classes.”
