Concord, N.H. (November 7, 2024) – The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges (The Foundation) has appointed Maria Proulx, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire (Anthem), to its board of directors. As a native Granite Stater, Proulx brings a deep commitment to the state and its people, as well as diverse experience in the healthcare and legal fields, to help further The Foundation’s mission to increase access and reduce financial barriers to those seeking a community college education in New Hampshire.
“We are honored that Maria is sharing her time and expertise by serving on our board of directors,” said Tim Allison, executive director of The Foundation. “Her experience driving improvements in healthcare access and affordability through her work at Anthem will be invaluable as The Foundation charts pathways to greater access and affordability for community college education.”
Proulx was named president of Anthem in 2022 after 15 years in a variety of leadership positions at the company. Prior to joining Anthem, she focused on civil and commercial litigation and family law as an attorney at Orr & Reno, PA. She is a frequent guest lecturer at New Hampshire colleges and universities and is a graduate of Leadership New Hampshire and the Concord Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. She holds a law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of New Hampshire. Proulx also serves on the board of directors for the Business & Industry Association of New Hampshire and as president of FC Exeter Soccer Club.
The Foundation is a charitable organization established to provide greater access to educational opportunities through financial assistance for student scholarships, program development and enhancements to facilities across New Hampshire’s seven community colleges. The Foundation actively seeks contributions from public and private sources to create scholarships and program partnerships that prepare students for in-demand, skilled jobs to meet the needs of the workforce.
